[SZYMBORSKA Wisława]. Handwritten "sticker" by Wislawa Szymborska with New Year's greetings addressed from Cracow to Danuta Herbert-Ulam in Paris at the turn of 1999/2000.
Sheet of stiff gray paper form. 14.7x10.5 cm. On one side pasted fragments of texts cut out from magazines, as well as a silver Christmas tree, in the lower right corner handwritten note: "and Wisława. 1999/2000". Under the heading "with best wishes from" appear: Santa Claus, Clara Rotschild, ten-year-old girls, the Ministry of Finance, Kochanowski, the management of the First Female Gymnasium and others. Preserved original envelope hand-addressed by Szymborska, with a return address written in the same hand (82 18 Stycznia Street). The addressee of the correspondence is Danuta Herbert-Ulam (here without the segment "Ulam"), cousin of Zbigniew Herbert, wife of prominent physicist Juliusz Ulam. Envelope slightly rubbed, contents in very good condition.
W. Szymborska (1923-2012) - poet, essayist, critic, translator, columnist, winner of the Nobel Prize in literature in 1996, founder of the Association of Polish Writers in 1989.
