Handwritten letter autographed on a printed blank by Karłowicz with an address on Chmielna Street in Warsaw. The letter concerns Karlowicz's encouragement of the scholar Hieronim Lopacinski to write a text for an album dedicated to Eliza Orzeszkowa. Lopacinski did so under the pseudonym of Rafal Lubicz and refuses to provide his photograph. Jan Karlowicz (1836-1903) , who was born in Lithuania, worked in a court in Vilnius, ran a bank and did scientific work. In Warsaw he taught ethnography. He collaborated with Zygmunt Gloger and Eliza Orzeszkowa, among others. Good condition. 9131/8
