[ROSTWOROWSKI Emanuel]. Four typescript letters from Emanuel Rostworowski, as editor-in-chief. Polski Słownik Biograficzny, to Zdzisław Najder from 1967-1968.
Letters form. A5, all on letterheads of the PSB editorial office. Correspondence relates to the biography of Józef Korzeniowski (Conrad) being compiled by Z. Najder (included in vol. 14 of the PSB). The editor asks for further editorial corrections and approval of the text. Each time under the text the handwritten signature of Prof. E. Rostworowski. Good condition.
E. Rostworowski (1923-1989) - historian, professor, member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, editor of historical sources. "In 1964 he became, by choice of the excellent medievalist Tadeusz Manteuffel, the third editor of the Polish Biographical Dictionary. He worked in this position until his death. He wrote a total of 66 biographies, while as editor he edited 21 volumes, from letter J to R, totaling about 13,000 biographies [...]. While the first volumes of the PSB were content to refer to literary achievements, and the biographies were often cursory as well, under Rostworowski the biographies became minimonographies" (Wikipedia).
