[CONRAD John A.]. Three typed letters from John Alexander Conrad, son of Joseph, concerning details of his father's biography, dated. 8 III, 9 XI, and 15 XI 1977.
Letters in English, single-sided on two, four, and one sheet form. 25.4x20.3 cm. Three letters from Joseph Conrad's younger son sent from The Howe, Vicarage Hill, Petham in Kent. All concern Joseph Conrad and his immediate family. In the second letter, Conrad refers to a text previously sent to him by Najder, giving the page numbers to which his remarks refer. Each letter contains a manuscript heading, the letter writer's signature or a handwritten note. Information obtained from John Conrad during personal contacts and by letter was an extremely important source for the emerging biography of Conrad. Najder wrote in the introduction: "A work of such considerable scope required the help of many people. In the first place should be mentioned the two sons of Joseph Conrad: the late Boris and John; both showed me much kindness." Folding marks, good condition.
J. A. Conrad (1906-1982) - Joseph's second son, author of memoirs about his father: "Some Reminiscences of My Father" (1976) and "Joseph Conrad: Times Remembered" (1981, Polish edition: "Time Remembered: Father is Here," 1997).
