[PROROK Leszek]. Typescript letter by Leszek Prophet and four handwritten postcards from 1971 and 1976.
Typescript letter, double-sided on sender's letter paper, A4 size, hand-signed. Letter dated. 30 VI 1971 in Warsaw. Correspondence concerns a Conrad conference being prepared. The Ministry of Culture and Art has shunned its organization, entrusting this task, after a long silence, to PAN. "Although PAN's company for foreign guests is more attractive than the ministerial one, the organizational and financial capacity of the academy is much weaker." There were financial difficulties: the budget for 1972 was closed, and the IOC did not manage to include funds for the conference: "it took eight months to fix its incompetence." The writer adds, "I will excuse from this period only a few weeks after December 1970, when there was indeed confusion."
Postcards dated. August 16, 1971, July 7, 1976, September 16, 1976 and September 20, 1976, the first typed, the others handwritten. Matters discussed here mainly concern the possibility of meeting in person and handing Najder a piece of "Conrad Studies" ("I left a volume of 'Conrad Studies' [...] for you in the checkroom of the ZLP Club, as the expedition at the Univ. of Silesia is dragging on"). Good condition.
