NKN. LEGIONS. WŁADYSŁAW SIKORSKI. Open letter from Stanislaw Downarowicz (1874-1941) to Waclaw Sieroszewski (1858-1945), Piotrkow, December 7, 1916. It sheds interesting light on the disputes within the independence camp in the years of World War I. Both its author and addressee played an important role in it. S. Downarowicz, an engineer and freemason, became in 1914 Head of the Presidium Bureau of the Military Department of the Western Section of the Supreme National Committee, and from 1915 represented the Congress Kingdom in the NKN. In turn, W. Sieroszewski is a writer who was a member of the Central National Committee in Warsaw from November 1916 to May 1917. The reason for this letter was W. Sieroszewski's earlier open letter to W. Sikorski, in which he made a number of accusations against him. S. Downarowicz took W. Sikorski to his defense. Pp. 4, edges frayed and yellowed, trace of folding. Dimensions 215x285 mm.
