Oflag II B Arnswalde was established on October 28, 1939. Polish prisoners of war were held there from November 6, 1939 to May 15, 1942.In June 1940, the camp's stock was 2,661 oficers and 368 ordinands. In September 1940, some of the POWs were transferred to Oflag II C Woldenberg, and the remaining ones were transferred to Oflag II D GrossBorn in May 1942.
A "Symbol Theater " was active in the camp - where three professional actors played in the beginning, the rest were amateur enthusiasts. The set design was handled by architects, and well-known painters collaborated: Lt. Jan Zamoyskiand Lt. Marian Bohusz-Szyszko.
The program for the musical comedy - Boy with a Fancy - including a list of the cast of actors, direction, dance troupe, designers of decorations and costumes. Names like Leon Kruczkowski, Jozef Slotwinski, Andrzej Szulc, Jan Kepinski appear.
