[SZYMBORSKA Wisława]. Handwritten letter from Wislawa Szymborska and Adam Włodek, addressed to Danuta Herbert-Ulam in Paris, dated. November 23, 1980 in Cracow.
Two cards form. 21x14.6 cm, written on one side. The author of the letter expresses her sympathy after the death of Juliusz Ulam, husband of the addressee. "Gone is his friendly presence, his extraordinary mind, his smile...". Wlodek adds, "From the first moment of our acquaintance, Julek became someone very close to me - one of those people whom neither time nor distance erases from memory." He suggests considering returning to the country. Preserved original envelope addressed by Szymborska, with a return address also written in her hand (82 18 Stycznia Street). The addressee of the correspondence is Danuta Herbert-Ulam, cousin of Zbigniew Herbert, wife of prominent physicist Juliusz Ulam. Very good condition.
