[SZAJNOCHA Karol]. Handwritten letter by Karol Szajnocha to an unknown addressee, dated. Oct. 1, 1854, probably in Lvov.
Double-sided manuscript on 4 pages form. 21,8x14 cm. The author of the letter addresses the recipient "Dear Brother". He writes: "I will not [...] respond to your words of kindness to my poor writings, all the more unworthy at this time for me, since they deprive me of the courage to speak about your writings". He mentions the songs once written by the letter's addressee, which he had reviewed 6 years earlier (in 1848?), and speaks highly of. The beauty and emotionality of these poems deserve, according to Szajnocha, to be disseminated. He recommends "a Wilda xięgarz - not a xięgarz but a noble, young, poetic soul [...] who would be willing to impose any collection of your poems". He encourages the addressee to send a selection from older and some new poems, which will make up a separate volume. In his final words, he reports that the 1st volume of "Hedwig and Jagiello" is expected to leave the printer in 2-3 weeks. Slight loss of lower margin (no harm to text), sheet creases.
