Lot description Show orginal version

Organized surrender your salvation. Soviet military propaganda leaflet addressed to German soldiers. It contains the following content: Soldiers! The general assault on besieged Germany has begun! Allied armies are striking from the East and West against Germany. Already the mighty bastions of the Oder and Rhine have fallen. The most important German economic centers have been destroyed from the air. The German army is doomed. Your fate resembles that of a besieged garrison in a half-destroyed city whose days are numbered. In such a hopeless situation for you, soldiers, the surest way to rescue is - ORGANIZED CAPITULATION! In all German cities surrounded and stormed by the Red Army, the fate of German garrisons was always the same, as the fate of German soldiers and officers who died in the face of useless resistance; but those who capitulated in an organized manner and surrendered remained alive. A few examples: in SINAW in early February, the German garrison was surrounded by Russians. German soldiers and officers continued to resist and were killed. However, more than 1,000 under the command of Captain Zurpitz surrendered and were saved as a result. In BRZEG, more than 6,000 German soldiers and officers were surrounded. 2000 fell in senseless obstinacy. However, 4000 German soldiers and officers capitulated and survived. They owed their survival to the noble Captain Petruschke. This German officer accepted the Soviet ultimatum, ordered the soldiers to line up in columns and move on to the Russians. Soviet officers rounded them up and then took them to the rear. IN POZNAN, the encircled German garrison resisted the OKW's order, resulting in 25,000 Germans killed in vain. Soldiers and officers, however, surrendered during the fighting and thus saved their lives. Among them, the rest of the garrison, 6,000 men, who surrendered in an organized manner on the orders of Major General Mattern. In GRUDGES, several thousand German soldiers and officers who continued their hopeless resistance died uselessly. However, more than 5,000 surrendered. Garrison commander Gen. Fricke, realizing the futility of resistance, accepted the Soviet ultimatum and sent parliamentarians to the Russians to determine the terms of surrender. When the parliamentarians returned, General Fricke ordered the garrison to fly white flags and surrender. There are more such examples. Soldiers! Do it, too! Demand immediate surrender from your officers. Send your deputies to the Russians. Discuss among yourselves and surrender in an organized manner. OFFICERS! The fate of many thousands of Germans lies in your hands. You can save it. Surrender - the gratitude of many thousands of German families is certain. Dimensions 14,5 x 23 cm
