Clipping (form 19.7x30.5 cm) from the London weekly Orzeł Biały (no. 46/47, November 11-20, 1958). According to the note printed next to the text, the previously unpublished poem was written on May 22, 1918, when Pilsudski was imprisoned in the Magdeburg citadel. On the upper margin a neatly written dedication: "To Wanda Pilsudska as a gift from Michal Sokolnicki, Ankara, November 1958". Traces of folding, good condition.
M. Sokolnicki (1880-1967) - politician, diplomat, historian. Member of the PPS, close associate of Pilsudski, from 1919 - with interruptions - performed diplomatic service in Scandinavian countries, later in Turkey, where he remained until the end of his life.
