[ŁOZIŃSKI Walery]. Author's manuscript of an excerpt from the novel "Black Matwij" by Walery Łoziński, ca. 1860.
Double-sided inscribed sheet form. 24.8x17.5 cm. The manuscript (neat, with a few corrections) covers the final paragraphs of chapter 21 ("Maxym Borba") and the beginning of the next chapter ("Epilogue"). Under the text (broken off in the middle of a word) the author's signature with his full name. Folding marks, minor abrasions.
W. Lozinski (1837-1861) - writer and publicist, author of numerous novels with patriotic overtones, originally printed in Lviv magazines, then in separate publications. Among the best known are: Zaklęty dwór, Szlachcic chodaczkowy and Czarny Matwij - a novel of the life of mountain people.
