Polish language. Extensive four-page letter from well-known poet and sculptor Teofil Lenartowicz (1822-1893) married to Zofia Szymanowska sister of Celina and wife of Adam Mickiewicz. Letter written from Bologna where Lenartowicz had lectures at the university. The author expresses his condolences to the letter's recipient for the death of his literary father belonging to the so-called Warsaw Bohemians, whom he knew personally.
He also recalls his youth in Warsaw where he met the addressee's father in the editorial office of Przeglad Warszawski at Budziłowicz. He also gives the characters belonging to the Bohemia characterizes some "and this was around 1843." Lenartowicz mentions and praises his patron K.Wóycicki. The poet reports that he finished his lectures in Bologna and returned to Florence to finish his sculptures. He criticizes Cyprian Norwid who "announced something great and original more than all of us, praise and mad pride stupefied him, he believed in his own Supremeness." The author then characterized subjectively what he thinks of Norwid's poetry. Traces of folding, weakening of paper at this point and a scalpel cut. Good condition.9131/3
