[JanPUZYNA ]. Signature of Cardinal Jan Puzyna under the bishop's letter addressed to Piotr Marc in Jeleśnia. Wladyslaw Bandurski's signature there. Document dated. 4 II 1903 in Cracow.
One-sided manuscript on ark. 33.5x20.7 cm, second sheet blank, correspondence paper of Cardinal Puzyna. Text written in secretary's hand, under the text the cardinal's round seal and his and W. Bandurski's signature. Traces of folding, good condition.
J. Puzyna (1842-1911) - Roman Catholic clergyman, auxiliary bishop of Lviv in 1886-1895, diocesan bishop of Krakow in 1895-1911, cardinal-presbyter since 1901. Grandson of General Józef Dwernicki. (Wikipedia).
W. Bandurski (1865-1932) - bishop, preacher, independence activist. In 1887 he was ordained a priest. Since 1894 secretary and chaplain of the Bishop of Cracow J. Puzyna. From 1895 chancellor of the bishop's curia in Cracow. Since 1903 canon of the Krakow chapter. In 1906 he became bishop and suffragan of the Lviv archdiocese. He conducted social and pedagogical activities. During the First World War, as protector of Polish refugees and prisoners of war in Vienna, he cooperated with the Supreme National Committee. Honorary chaplain of the 1st Brigade of the Polish Legions, he preached on the front line. In 1919 he returned to Lviv, where he undertook pastoral activities among soldiers.
