[GOMBROWICZ Witold]. Handwritten letter from Witold Gombrowicz to an unnamed Jadwiga Kukułczanka in Berlin probably dated 27 July 1963 (undated), sent from Berlin.
One-sided manuscript in ink on card form. 26.8x21.1 cm. The date of the letter is given according to information from the previous owner (in 1963 Gombrowicz, living permanently in Argentina, was on a one-year Ford Foundation scholarship). A letter asking to send a contract: "Dear Madam, please sign together with Mr. Sidr one piece of the contract for me and send Dachsberg 14, Berlin 33, The Ford Foundation, if you don't manage to leave today at the hotel [...]". Signature "WGombrowicz" under the text. Traces of folding, minor staining of horizontal edges, nevertheless good condition.
W. Gombrowicz (1904-1969) - novelist, playwright, from 1939 residing in exile, one of the most outstanding Polish writers of the 20th century.
