Manuscript of a speech given by Ignacy Domeyko at a meeting of the Historical and Literary Society in Paris on November 5, 1884. A very moving and emotional speech, it contains numerous references to the personal adventures of Domeyko, who, after 46 years of traveling and working overseas, was able to stand again on the thresholds of the Society. The author recalls with poignancy his travels and activities in America, the beginnings of the Society "[...] What a spirit that animated this gathering, what diligence, strength, patience, perseverance in the complete absence of resources"), acquaintances and friendships with General Kniaziewicz, Teodor Morawski, Adam Mickiewicz. The author recalls the latter particularly beautifully: "[...] I can forget the most noble of my poets from my youngest years, who was pensive by my side at that meeting [...] who just at that time gave the nation Pan Tadeusz".
