Two-sided letter on ark. 21.4x17.4 cm. The addressee is addressed "Dear Najder." The letter concerns, among other things, the publication of a planned anthology of British poets, also in Milosz's translation. The troubles with the publication cause "because Julek Zulawski was pulling his hair out of his head." Milosz asks if the Najders confirm their decision to return to the country. "The Paris flu has been battering me [...] for more than two weeks," but "it's even worse in Poland and everyone is getting sick," according to Jerzy Andrzejewski, who "had a phone call from home today." He also writes of Herbert: "Zbyszek is in a generally miserable mood. He has decided to return to Poland, marry Kasia and look for an apartment." About Tyrmand: "years for a hero in the March issue of 'Culture,' to the generally small satisfaction of domestic readers." And, he adds, "In Maisson-Laffitte [hebrew: Maison-Laffitte] I have not been so far." Letter signed: "Czeslaw". Traces of folding, very good condition.
C. Miłosz (1911-2004) - poet, prose writer, essayist, literary historian, translator, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature for 1980. From 1951 to 1993 he was in exile in France and the USA. After his departure, he was banned from printing in the People's Republic of Poland until 1980.
