[ZAPOLSKA Gabriela]. Handwritten letter from Gabriela Zapolska to an unnamed Michal Grek, attorney, dated. 26 X 1898.
Double-sided manuscript on three pages form. 15.3x11.4 cm. The author, thanking the lawyer for his intervention in the court case, asks him to block the staging of "That One" on the stage of the Poznań theater. She writes that the director there, Edmund Rygier, "didn't pay me for 'Mother,' so I don't want to let him do 'That One.'" She also informs us that after the performance (in Lviv?) she received from the director of the Skarbek Theater "a basket of flowers adorned with pigeons" with an appropriate ticket. In her final words, she expresses her desire to see the addressee's wife in the role of Anna in "That One." This may be referring only to Felicja Stachowicz, who actually appeared in this role during performances given at the Skarbek Theater in Lvov from January 30, 1899 (the play premiered in Krakow on March 5, 1898). The husband of this actress was a well-known Lviv lawyer Michal Grek, who was entitled to exercise Zapolska's copyrights. Traces of folding, minor soiling, rubbing on folds.
