[MACHAY Ferdinand]. Fr. Machay's correspondence (8 letters and correspondence cards) addressed to Helena and Franciszek Goc in Krakow and Wroclaw, one handwritten opinion, two of his business cards with short notes, two photographs, 1935-1966.
Collection includes:
1. handwritten letter on Fr. Machay's correspondence paper regarding payment of an installment at the Bank of Poland, dated. 11 I 1935 in Cracow, signed "Your Ferdo"
2. two postcards wishing "Best Christmas", probably from the late 1940s.
3. a postcard with information about the sender's illness ("I've been lying down for the 2nd week for nasty eczema and a wound on my leg [...]. Well, for some illness you will have to make a move to Father and Shepherd"), dated. August 19, 1958, signed "X. Machay"
4. three correspondence cards with invitations to a joint Christmas Eve in 1963, 1964 and 1966, signed "Fr. Ferdo", "Fr. Ferdinand Machay" and "Fr. Machay"; attached to one card is a small wafer
5. two business cards (miscellaneous) printed "Rev. Dr. Ferdinand Machay"; on the first an invitation to a joint Christmas Eve ("with me - a loner") in 1959, on the second a thank-you note for photographs intended for a textbook, no date
6. handwritten opinion recommending Helena Gocowa's candidacy for membership in the Club of Catholic Intelligentsia in Cracow, dated. 14 V 1962
7. two small portrait photographs of Fr. Machay (form 4.7x5.3 and 4.2x3 cm), pasted on cardboard backings, probably taken by Franciszek Goc
8. photo of the altar of Veit Stoss (postcard form), on the back a handwritten text, clearly written: "since July 22, I am very close to the finish line. With God! God bless you for your friendship and kindness. X. Ferdinand." Father Machay died on July 31, 1967.
All objects in good condition.
F. Machay (1889-1967) - Catholic priest, inflate, theologian, as well as politician and pro-independence activist, publicist, publisher; organizer of activities aimed at annexing Spisz and Orawa to Poland, in 1944-1967 he was archpriest of St. Mary's Church in Cracow.
