[JANION Maria]. Handwritten letter from Maria Janion concerning, among other things, a biography of J. Conrad by Z. Najder, dated. 28 VIII 1977.
Double-sided letter on sheet form. A4, sent to the address of the editorial office of the Twórczość monthly, bearing her stamp. The author of the letter apologizes for the delay in sending her article. She informs that she has started reading the typescript of Najder's book (presumably dedicated to Conrad). She writes: "I have started reading the typescript of your book - I am very impressed by its thoroughness, 'factual' and interpretive momentum. I consider this biography to be sensational, and - unfortunately, as you yourself probably know - you will have a lot of annoyances about it - in Poland they are unavoidable. This, by the way, is probably the necessary price you have to pay for such a radical demolition of stereotypes." He promises to send the comments and the first part of the book's review soon, postulating: "the book should be put into print as soon as possible, I think it is much needed as simply a phenomenon of critical thinking". Minor sheet creases, good condition.
