Biography
Leading representative of Polish avant-garde photography. Member of ZPAP and ZPAF since 1948; president of the Association from 1979 to 1982, and honorary member since 1973. One of the founders of the Club of Young Artists and Scientists in Warsaw (1947). A participant in the 1948 Modern Art Exhibition in Krakow, Poland; collaborated with a number of galleries throughout the country. One of the founders of Group 55. From 1953 to 1972, he was editor-in-chief of Fotografia monthly. From 1966 to 1975, he was a lecturer at the Polish National Film School (PWSFTViT) and the Academy of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Lodz. Author of numerous articles and lectures. Repeatedly awarded with decorations, including the Prize of the Minister of Culture and Art (1975), the State Prize of the First Degree (1979).
