In compliance with the ban on minting small coinage established during the reign of Sigismund III, Torun under his son limits its activities to minting only ducats, thalers and half-talars. Minting coinage continuously throughout his reign.
A more interesting vintage of thalers, on which two significant changes occur. In the royal titulary, the notation of the numeral after the king's name changes. On the early ones it is "IIII", which gives way to "IV". A distinctive mint mark, visible on this piece, appears above the head of the Angel, appearing only on some coins of this single vintage.
