A beautiful piece of trojak from the most interesting year of the Olkusz mint.
As the author of the monograph of the Olkusz Crown Mint points out, 1580 was a crucial year for its minting, during which there was a gradual formation of the final style of a whole series of coins. This can be perfectly seen precisely on trojaks, where the royal image, the presence of coats of arms, borders and denomination markings change.
A variety with a large king's head, without the treasurer's coat of arms, with a denomination marking (III) and the Batori coat of arms separating the date.
The coin was minted either at the beginning of the year, before Rokossowski began his work, or already in the period after the unexpected death of the second in command, Piotr Zborowski (after September 13).
A striking presentation, the luster of the background and the patina of the former collection.
A very rare and typologically valuable coin.
