Sigismund III Vasa, 1610 Shellac, Riga - curiosities - unprecedented
Monogram type I (Marzęta).
Coat of arms shield type 3 (Marzęta)
Liszka (mintmark of Otto von Meppen - mayor of Riga) to the left divides the obverse inscription on the reverse.
The full date 1610 completes the otok inscription on the reverse.
Interesting facts - in the date the first digit 1 was stamped with a punch I, and the digit 6 looks as if a lying 0 was stamped on the letter S, adding a belly and forming the digit 6. The whole thing looks as if RIGENS IS10 was made into RIGENS IS/610 - a very rare, unprecedented error.
Condition: 2+/1-
An off-center minted but beautifully preserved piece. Very rare and virtually unheard of date composition. A beautiful piece for specialized collections.
