Reference: Iger E.36.1.g (R2), Kopicki 7089 (R3)

The time of Sigismund I the Old was a period of monetary reforms. One of them was the creation of a uniform coinage in the Crown and Prussia, for which a mint was opened in Torun. In response, Elblag, among others, began efforts to start its own mint, citing, among other things, the privilege granted under Casimir. It received permission from the king in 1530, issuing its first coins in the same year.

The first available Elblag trojak (the 1535 vintage is known from a piece in the MN in Warsaw).

Variety with a legend ending ELBINK and a rosette above the city's coat of arms.

Rarer.
