Rare issue, minted by Quintus Salvidienus Rufus, Octavian childhood friend and from 45/44 BC the most important general. This made him governor of Gaul in 40 BC and in 39 BC he was appointed consul. Denounced by Mark Antony, Rufus was convicted of high treason by the Senate and driven to suicide.
