Rare Octavian denarius with Venus on the reverse. This performance conveyed the message that Octavian has a divine heritage and is the true heir of the imperial tradition, because Venus was the guardian deity of Julius Caesar, who publicly declared that he came directly from her.

Coin with small defect, but not affecting in any way the portrait of Octavian.

Obverse: head of August facing right

Reverse: Venus standing right, with her back turned, half-naked with drapery hanging below her buttocks, holding scepter and helmet, her left elbow resting on column, below shield with star motif leaning against the column, CAESAR DIVI F across fields
