Kalkowski states that starting in the 9th Century, Arab coins began to appear on Slavic lands. They came through Scandinavia (rather than from the south as might be expected) by way of the Baltic to Pomerania, and to a lesser degree, Great Poland. The first and third listed coins above are the same as he has photographed as examples of the thousands which have been found, most from the 10th Century.
