A very rare item, which we have on offer for the first time.
Crown half-penny of Olbracht with a striking error in the ruler's name - ATBEHTI (letter B from an inverted E) instead of the correct ALBERTI.
Great stylistically, although the copper clearances on the eagle's paws, among others, are puzzling. Probably this is a mint abuse, or perhaps (?) a deliberate mistake in the legend, to distinguish the forgery.
The case of mint abuse in the issuance of so-called "thunderbolts" (half-pennies with the Poraj coat of arms) is widely reported in the literature. In 1498 Piotr Kurozwêcki lost his position after his abuses were discovered, and the issuance of half-pennies with the sign of the ring under the crown, belonging to Jakub Szydłowiecki, began.
Mint condition.
Silver, diameter 17.2 mm, weight 0.72 g.
