Wide, striking and very rare Toronto two-ducat.
Beautiful state of preservation. Slightly bent, with a jam at the top of the obverse, near the rim. Of excellent presentation, with very good relief and natural mint luster.
Dual ducats do not appear in the minting of the city of Torun until 1660, and their issuance was related to the bustling trade in the Prussian ports. Before that, the city mainly issued single ducats and donations. To mint them, like orts or thalers, the city used a rolling mill.
1664 is a low-volume vintage, as indicated by the fact that the obverse stamp was also used a year later, in 1665.
