An extremely rare and desirable coin of Jaksa of Kopanica, often also called from Miechow.

According to Witold Garbaczewski: As a prince on Kopanica, Jaksa began, most likely after 1158, minting brakteates on his own account. The products of his mint betray the skilled hand of the engraver and present the ruler in a variety of poses and with various attributes. Some of Jaksa's brakteates show a high probability to the issue of Archbishop of Magdeburg Wichman von Seeburg (1152-92). The minting activities of Jaksa of Kopanica may have been, in part, his prestigious response to the issues of Albrecht the Bear issued in Brenno - if that ruler conducted minting activities here at all.

Jaksa was a Polish magnate living in Wrocław, married to the daughter of Piotr Włostowic - Agata, a palatine of Bolesław Krzywousty.
He founded, among other things, the monastery in Miechow and other sacred sites. Known for the tympanum placed in the church of St. Michael the Archangel, founded by Peter Vlostovic. It is the oldest surviving tympanum in Poland, dating from 1162-63, and features Christ on a throne and on the sides Jaksa with his wife Agatha and Prince Boleslaw the Curly with his son Leszek the White. We can see it in the Museum of Architecture in Wroclaw.

Extremely rare type of coin, distinguished by its magnificent size.
The rarity is confirmed by a search we conducted in the country's numismatic archives.
Over the course of more than 30 years
, this type of coin appeared ONE TIME and in incomparably poor condition.

A beautiful piece with mint luster, in an extremely charming, cabinet-like patina.
For the finest of collections - an INCREDIBLE NUMIZMAT.

obverse: half-figure of a ruler with a sword leaning against his shoulder and a shield above a city wall with a gate and two towers

Silver, diameter 28 mm, weight 1.06 g.
