Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: VF+
Reference: Kopicki 6554 (R6), Fbg. 518

A very rare Silesian brakteat.

Issuance attributed to the reign of Henry the Bearded, minted in Wroclaw, not belonging to the group of Rataj brakteats.

Representation: a head in a helmet under a cross, between a pennant and a turret. All around the pearl band. Smooth shaft.

Dating: 1201-1238.

Piece difficult to digitally determine condition, as the coin is of mint freshness, but with defects listed below.

Crumbled on the right side and with a crack at the top. Local flaking of the silvery surface. Despite this, the mint freshness is mostly preserved and the legibility of the coin's iconographic features is very good.

First time in our offer. Absent, among others, from the excellent medieval collection from our 10th auction.

Silver, diameter 16-17.5 mm, weight 0.13 g.
