The Warsaw factory of the Lopienski Brothers, whose origins are linked to the person of Jan Lopienski (1838-1907), began operations in 1862. Twenty years later, Jan's sons, Gregory and Feliks, continued their father's work and quickly gained a reputation as excellent foundry artists. They worked with some of the most prominent sculptors, including Czesław Makowski, Pius Weloński, Edward Wittig, Antoni Kurzawa, Xawery Dunikowski, Wacław Szymanowski, Stanisław Szukalski, Henryk Glicenstein, as well as Konstanty Laszczko, a family friend.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the factory was among Europe's leaders and was the largest east of Berlin. In the interwar period, the Lopienski factory cast, among others, statues of Kilinski, Chrobry and the Mermaid.
The factory offered table and salon bronzes, fine decorative sculpture, lighting apparatuses, church apparatuses, as well as excellent quality silverware. The products were appreciated by juries of national and international exhibitions.
