Condition: cracks, enamel restorations on the dial.
Dartois was, along with Galle, Ledure, Ravro and Thomire, one of the leading and best-known Parisian bronzers of the early 19th century. This clock was honored at the Industrial Exhibition of 1827.
The clock depicts Erato - the muse of lyrical poetry - with a guitar and Amor. And in relief under the dial is a scene from Ovid's Transformations (XI.650-677): Alcynoe learns from Morpheus, who appeared to her in a dream in the form of her husband Célix, of his death.
