The brass case with three pointers, the dial with Roman numerals, steel hands and a visible Brocot step with ruby pallets (pins) is placed in the top centre. On the bottom left is a complicated calendar referred to as the "perpetual calendar", on the left a barometer with a central wind rose. Two medals are shown on the outer ring at the bottom: GOLD MEDAL EXHIBITION PARIS 1849 and UNIVERSAL EXHIBITION LONDON 1851. Brass feather machine, half beating on bell.
