Leszek NOWOSIELSKI
1918 Warsaw - 1999 Warsaw
He sought his own means of artistic expression mainly in ceramics. He is known to design collectors as the author, together with his wife Hanna Modrzewska-Nowosielska, of paintings of decorative plates, services and tableware. In the early 1960s, he began creating his own models in clay, which brought him fame. He formed monumental compositions such as "Battle of Grunwald," "Battle of Vienna," "Battle of Legnica" and "Hiroshima," now housed at the Hiroshima Memorial Center in Tokyo, from ceramic tile-paintings. At the same time, the artist was engaged in painting, creating abstract, free compositions with clear structure and saturated colors. In 2016, the couple held an exhibition summarizing their artistic activities, "Atelier Nowosielski. The Ceramic World of Hanna and Leszek Nowosielski" organized by the National Museum in Gdansk.
