Clock made at the Sächsische Porzellan-Fabrik Carl Thieme zu Potschappel manufactory, founded in 1872 by Carl-Johann Gottlob Thieme. Thieme established a porcelain and antique store in Dresden in 1864, with a porcelain paint store attached to it. A few years later, he created his own factory, which operated until 1951 under family management, then was gradually nationalized. In 1972, the company was completely taken over by the state and operated as VEB Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden until 1990. In 1991, it was privatized.
