glazed ceramic, approx. 18 x 4.5 cm, signed on bottom: P. Kwietniewska
Born in 1991 in Lodz, Poland.
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, Universita di Belle Arti di Catania, and also attended the London Atelier of Representational Art in London, where she learned from contemporary masters of figurative painting.
Her work consists mainly of portraits, in which she tries to capture the emotions and atmosphere of the people and encounters she portrays in a harmonious, subdued style. You can feel the inspiration of 19th-century academic painting in her paintings. She also creates intuitive ceramic sculptures that relate to her own experiences and emotions.
She was honored by London's Mall Galleries, where she was among 20 promising young artists to participate in the In The Studio program, designed to introduce young artists to the art world through interactions with the Royal Societies of Painters.
She continues to deepen her knowledge and skills, seeking expression for what moves her: issues of identity, sense of belonging, motherhood and transience. She is also inspired by culture in the broadest sense: poetry, literature and film.
