Glass painting of three emperors
Reverse glass painting set in lead 19th century wooden frame
84 x 129 cm, 129 x 129, depth 42 cm
The depiction of Rudolf I of Habsburg (1281-1291) on the left is a high-quality repetition of part of the so-called "First Habsburg Window" from St. Bartholomew's Chapel in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, which was created in the 1380s.
The central depiction is similar to that of Leopold VI (1176-1230) from the so-called "Laxenburg Window" in the parish church in Steyr, composed of stained glass from the Capella Speciosa in Klosterneuburg, among other places.
The depiction of Albrecht I (1255-1308) on the right is also a high-quality repetition of part of the so-called "First Habsburg Window" from St. Bartholomew's Chapel in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, which was created in the 1380s.
