Fine figural artwork designed by Karl Himmelstoss (1878 - 1967), depicting a naturalistically rendered pair of cuddling penguins. White porcelain, painted and glazed, with an imprint in the mass on the base: "K. HIMMELSTOSS", maker's mark printed, green on the base, dated 1929. An excellent example of sculptural, animalistic form - not shying away from anecdote.
