fine-grained potter's clay, decoration imprinted from the mold, lead glaze colored with metal oxides (copper) in green; several small glaze losses( abrasions) in the mirror and at the edge of the collar; height: 3.6 cm, diameter: 24 cm; signed by imprint: Pilawa (Potocki) coat of arms, inscription: RYTWIANY;
Rytwiany/k Staszów (Sandomierskie), Potocki factory, con. XIX c.
Plate with relief decoration of rocaille cartouches with lattice motifs, with lattice ornament in mirror circle, loose basketweave and diagonal hatching.
A rare example of pottery from a factory in the Potocki estate (of Count Arthur Potocki), despite the pottery raw materials used - similar to fine faience (thin, double-glazed
head, precise imprinted decoration in Neo-Baroque style). Inferring from the preserved
and published objects, ceramics from Rytwian were distinguished by good, up-to-date design
and quality among the manufactures of the Świętokrzyskie region. An analogous plate glazed brown,
with a preserved negative plaster mold in the collection of the National Museum in Kielce (publ.
M. Śniegulska- Gomuła, 2015). Examples of products from Rytwiana also in the National Museums
in Warsaw (publ. Wolska-Pabian, 22022) and Krakow.
