Magdalena Konior, Mug with saucer
Porcelain, 24 - carat gold
work signed
capacity approx. 200ml

The medium-sized mug, decorated with real gold, is hand-molded porcelain.

It is an absolutely unique vessel. No two mugs are the same, the differences are evident...there may be a different size ear, they may differ in capacity and even in color saturation. You can see the marks of my hands on the surface, the walls are uneven in thickness and the curves show how the object was made. What is fascinating about porcelain is its ability to transmit light, which can be seen when a porcelain vessel is set against a light source. This is a characteristic of white porcelain.

It is fired three times in the kiln. The highest temperature is 1250C. The surface of the mug is covered with a glossy glaze. The decorations are made with real gold. The purpose of the mug depends solely on its owner. Tea, coffee, or maybe water with cinnamon. Here it is our ingenuity that counts.

Due to the gilded elements, I do not recommend washing in the dishwasher.

____

Magdalena Konior is a graduate of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1999 she defended her diploma thesis in the sculpture studio of Professor Jerzy Nowakowski. During her studies, she twice held a six-month scholarship in Bratislava and Antwerp. After graduation, she focused on topics related to interior design. For several years, her passion for sculptural forms has returned. She began to explore art ceramics.

What attracts her today in ceramic sculpture is minimalism in form and the search for the perfect composition. Color and texture complement the sought-after effect.

All this fun is accompanied by human faces with feelings, grimaces, gazes. They are always in relationships, rarely alone. They talk, look at each other, sing. Everyone finds something different in them, feelings that accompany us every day.

Her works are created as a result of emotions, the mood of the moment. Each work is unique, created from scratch. It is never repeated. It may be similar, but never identical. Often the end result is the result of an experiment, an accidental mistake that is impossible to make a second time. "I am constantly on the road. I am experimenting, looking for new possibilities, effects, techniques, materials."
