DELFT, Netherlands. Faience cup with saucer, 2nd half of the 18th century, workshop of A. Peenis (1759-1770). Original shape of cup and saucer in the form of a leaf, multicolored decoration painted in underglaze, in the mirror of the saucer a motif of a seated woman in traditional Dutch dress holding a bouquet of red flowers, on the collar of the saucer and on the cup an ornament consisting of blue and white, orange and yellow flowers against a background of green leaves. Signature on the bottom of the cup and saucer: blue underglaze painted AP (A. Peenis) mark. Dimensions: height of cup approx. 5.4 cm, diameter approx. 11x11.7 cm, diameter of saucer approx. 15x17.5 cm, height approx. 2.5 cm.
State of preservation: single hairline crack on the rim of the cup, visible from the inside of the cup, few, small, superficial losses of glaze and paint. Traces of use natural for the age of the object.
