Porcelain "talking plate," LM & Cie, 19th century, France
A collectible plate, known in France as an "assiette parlante" (literally, a talking plate - a plate that tells a story). The plate depicts a wedding scene, entitled "L'arrivée à l'église" (arrival at the church). On the bottom of the plate, the maker's signature: Creil Et Montereau / Porcel. Opaque; in the medal: Medailles d'Or LM & Cie + dates (illegible: 1834.39.44 et 49).
Stand very good, minor soiling/scuffing.
