E. 21, 10. Slight rubbing of corners of covers, very good condition. Spine richly gilt, with signboard. Description of the events surrounding the rivalry for the Polish crown between Stanislaw Leszczynski and Augustus III Saxon (l. 1733-1737). The main text preceded by an introduction discussing the political system of the Republic, with a clear sympathy for Stanislaw Leszczynski, who was supported by the French. The book's author, Armand (Saint-Armand) de la Chapelle (1676-1746), was a French Protestant writer, a pastor in The Hague. His "Memoires" were published three times in 1739: in Amsterdam, London and Paris.
