Handmade by the author, this book is devoted to folk clay toys made in the vicinity of the village of Dymkovo nad Viatka. According to the old tradition, clay toys, whistles were prepared for the fourth Sunday after Easter, when the fired and colored figurines were taken to Vyatka (city) and sold at the fair. After the revolution, the custom began to disappear, and handmade clay figurines were supplanted by easier-to-make plaster products. Denshin, who was well acquainted with the circle of clay toy makers, especially its prominent representative A. Mierzina, managed to record the disappearing tradition in his publication. He described the customs, and reflected the text using the lithographic method. He placed 51 likenesses on boards, reflecting them on small sheets, coloring them by hand with egg paints and gluing them to the boards. He borrowed the method of preparing the dyes from Dymkov artists. He created an unusual book, which is a small work of art, rarely found on the antiquarian market.
