A collection of articles and dissertations by the prominent mountaineer and speleologist, Jan Gwalbert Pawlikowski (1860-1939), devoted to matters of protecting the nature of the Tatra Mountains, the activities of the Tatra National Park and the cultural landscape of the Podhale region. A significant part of the book contains an extensive, insightful and richly illustrated study of highland architecture and the "Zakopane style" by Stanislaw Witkiewicz, which is still one of the most important theoretical statements on the subject.
