Repaired small loss of top edge of spine, discoloration of front pastedown, front pastedown cracked at spine, back pastedown missing, minor stains inside. Stamps and own signatures. Elegant binding signed "Lauffert" on bottom edge of spine. "Concerned about the forms that the Galician peasant movement had taken, Heltman attempted to speak to the people and, together with L. Zienkowicz, put together a booklet entitled 'God's Words for [sic!; proper "to"] the Polish people.' This publication preached insurrectionary slogans, while promoting the solidarity of the people with the nobility. It was translated into Ukrainian and Lithuanian and was widely circulated in the country" (PSB). In the text, three full-page woodcuts showing dramatic scenes from the lives of Szymon Konarski, Teofil Wisniowski and Aloysius Boguslawski. Several woodcut vignettes and finalics.
