Andrzej Bohomolec (1900-1988) - Polish cavalryman, sailor and writer, the first Pole to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a sailing yacht. The voyage on the Dal yacht, between Gdynia and New York, lasted from 1933-06-05 to 1934-06-11, with Andrzej Bohomolec, Jerzy Świechowski and Jan Witkowski (who returned to Poland from Bermuda) in the crew.
Bohomolec and Swiechowski decided to continue the voyage: along the Hudson River, through the canals and across the Great Lakes they arrived 1934-08-24 in Chicago for the World Exhibition.
