BERGEL Rajmund. History of the Second Polish Corps (with two sketches). Glowna Księgarnia Wojskowa, Warsaw 1921. pp 64, title page partially darkened, soft cover. Price: 160 zloty
The first publication devoted to the genesis of the Second Polish Corps in the East, written from the perspective of a participant in the events. The II Corps was formed in mid-1917 from Poles fighting on the southern Russian fronts. On February 15, 1918, it was joined by soldiers of the Second Brigade of the Polish Legions under the command of Colonel Jozef Haller, who broke through the Austro-Russian front after the Treaty of Brest. After the battle of Kaniów on May 10/11, 1918 with the Germans, the Corps was disbanded and some soldiers were taken prisoner by the Germans. They were incarcerated in the Güstrow camp in Mecklenburg.
